It sounds to me like, although it's felt hard to find the kind of conversations you want, you have a clear idea of what you want, and I'm glad you've found that. And it's not just at work that people look askance if you mention "meaning." I find that word can throw cold water on the conversation at all sorts of social occasions. There is a strong push in our culture to keep social exchanges on a pretty superficial level. For me, having a mid-life crisis has been about finding people to share ideas with on a deeper level, rather than just the usual chit-chat. It's been hard. Interesting article.
