Another good article. I experienced this phenomenon first hand and took it to a very unhealthy extreme. Shortly after I began practicing law, I realized that I didn't like it and that it wasn't right for me. But rather than simply acknowledging that and moving on, I created for myself a downward spiral of negativity that I apparently hoped would justify my dislike--it wasn't just a career that didn't suit me, it was the worst possible line of work imaginable, and everything about it was intolerable, etc. I eventually ended up quite depressed and was fortunately finally, after several years, able to get some counseling that helped me see what I was doing.
